My long time friend, Mary Jane McAlister's mother, Lois McAlister was the operator of Gulf Park Summer Camp for many years, and many of the New Orleans natives either went to Gulf Park College, and or the Camp. I am familiar with a number of them who rode in the Spring Fiesta Horse Show in New Orleans, where, I competed in the Hunter Jumper Class. A group I belong to is interested in acquiring a white stallion for use in the Carnival parades and I have referred them to your web site. I know you must hear it almost continually but, I LOVE your site. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful history and information. I have it listed on my favorites and send others to the site regularly for breed information.
I grew up with walkers and have never lost the "bug."
Currently all of my walkers are rescues, 3 are blind and 1 has neurological damage from eating rat poison as a 2 yr old. 2 of my blind guys (geldings) I ride however the mare (Fantastic Sugar) - granddaughter of Carbon Copy, has only been a broodmare for 12 yrs and learned to have "broodmare attitude", so riding is not an option. I am currently trying to set up a rescue hub for walkers that are up for adoption at rescues across the country. There are many that are registered and have some how managed to have their papers with them (there is a beautiful registered mare at Bluebonnet Equine Rescue in TX) If/when I can get it up and running, may I list you as a preferred link?
