Powder River
He flows like a River......

ACROSS THE WAY I SAW HIM
AT THE WALKING HORSE SALE THAT DAY
A YEARLING BLACK AND WHITE STALLION
AWAITING HIS CHANCE TO PARADE.

HE LOOKED LIKE A DEER IN HIS MOVEMENTS
HE EBBED AND HE FLOWED WHEN HE WALKED
COULD I BE THE ONE SO LUCKY
AS TO HAVE THE LAST BID AS THEY HAWKED
?

AND YES, IT IS TRUE THAT THEY POINTED
AND SAID SOLD TO THE LADY RIGHT THERE
AND I COULDN’T BELIEVE MY GOOD FORTUNE
TO BE THE NEW OWNER OF A STALLION SO RARE.

SO AWAY WE WENT TO THE TRAINER
TO LEARN TO WALK LIKE A CHAMP
HE LEARNED SO QUICKLY AND EASILY
THAT SOON HE WAS IN A NEW CAMP.

WITH EACH TRAINER THAT TRIED HIS HAND
HE IMPROVED WITH GRACE AND STRIDE
AND SOON PEOPLE STARTED TO TAKE NOTICE
OF THE BLACK AND WHITE STALLION HE’D RIDE.

AND SHOW AFTER SHOW HE WOULD WIN
HE FLOWED LIKE A MIGHTY RIVER
THIS GORGEOUS WALKING HORSE STALLION
THE WORLD CAME TO KNOW AS
POWDER RIVER

Hello Mary,

How nice to get to chat with you this morning and learn some helpful things about our favorite Tennessee Walker.  I would love the opportunity to come out to your ranch to further my understanding of this amazing horse, I'll have to see if this is something the owner is interested in.
River shares his pasture with a Tennessee Walker gelding, his own daughter and a Caspian pony.  I've included a photo of my daughter and "River", (no arena, only a round pen and 1,800 acres), as well as the entry she attempted to post in his Guest Book.  Thank you so much for your time.

Best Regards,

Sharon Grimes

Nothing thrills me more than to know Powder River is in a good home - and especially that is he back in Texas.  That picture of your daughter riding him is just beautiful.  We would be thrilled to have you come visit and we will be glad to share with you some knowledge on the breed to better help you work with Powder River.

He was a dream come true for me as well.  If you read the poem that I wrote on his page, it tells a lot about how I feel about him. He was a very popular horse in the show ring and had a big following from Coast to Coast.   He was always a treat to work with as he was very willing to do anything that you asked of him - not a mean bone in his body.

Thank you for contacting me and I hope we have a chance to meet.
