Master of Jazz was bred by Gus King of Arab, Alabama, and was foaled
on the 28th of February, 2001. He was sired by A Jazz Man, out of
Precious Pusher BW, and is a sterling example of the result of
crossing the bloodlines of the breeding giants, Prides Generator and
The Pusher CG.
He began his
march for the roses in amateur competition with one of his
owners, Lee Wall. She recognized his potential from the
moment she bought him in 2004.
She
campaigned him during his three and four year old seasons, and
accumulated numerous prestigious titles with him.
Then, in the fall
of 2005, Lee and co-owner Mike McGartland decided that Master of
Jazz had what it took for open competition. They chose Hall of
Fame trainer, Jimmy McConnell to develop the talented black
stallion to his fullest potential.
This proved to be
a wise choice.
Starting
with their very first appearance together at the 2005 Gum Tree
Classic, Jimmy McConnell and Master Of Jazz have been completely
undefeated. They have walked to the winner's circle in every
major show the industry has to offer, including the Alabama
Jubilee, the Delta Fall Classic, the National Trainers' Show,
the Mississippi Charity Show, the Spring Fun Show, and of
course, the Celebration.
In 2006,
they won the Stallions Over Five, 15:2 & Over (Canter)
Section A World Championship.
Primed and
ready to repeat in 2007, and take that final step to
greatness, Jimmy and Master Of Jazz entered into only one
competition in 2007, prior to the Celebration. In that
outing, they captured the blue in the big Stake at the
Magnolia Classic.
The team proved
more than ready the first Saturday evening of the 2007
Celebration. They cruised around the big ring like it was their
own, and repeated their win of the Stallions Over Five, 15:2 &
Over (Canter) Section A World Championship.
The stage was set
for greatness as they returned a week later. The crowd roared
with every pass they made, and after the class was over, Jimmy
and Master Of Jazz were the clear choice of the judges. They
made their final victory pass, carrying the roses in the
spotlight and walked into the history books.
A once in a
lifetime horse, a champion in every sense of the word, and a
horse for the ages, Master Of Jazz is the 2007 World Grand
Champion Tennessee Walking Horse.
