Comments: You've done well in preserving the history of the breed.  I've been associated with this breed since 1963.  My folks brought the first Tennessee bred and trained horses to California in the 60's.  In 66, they won just about every show in California including the Grand National at the Cow Palace.  My father promoted the breed in California and then in Tennessee and Mississippi until his early death in 1985.  He spent 22 years promoting the breed in every way possible.  While you won't find his name on any website or in a book, Stan Reames did as much or more to promote this breed in its early days than anyone I know.  Most of the barns of those days are gone, but I lived through those days and remember it well.  As I read about the problems the people associated with the breed are having, I'm reminded that really nothing has changed in these past 40 years...people are still complaining about judging, how they are chosen, the "soring" issue and we all know they still!
are as they were then...they just hide it better now.  Walkers West has done a wonderful job with their website and in promoting this wonderful breed.  My thanks from an old timer of the breed.      Jess S. Reames

Comments: as an eleven yr old child my father gave me for christmas one year a beautiful tn. walker named harmon's merry queen.  we lived together for 19 wonderful years until her death at home of old age.  i am now 41 with 4 years old twins, and i would like to get them a horse that is the direct decendant of my precious merry queen.  can you help me find a horse to buy for them? she was registered in the tn. walking horse ass., however, my father never put her papers in his name as we could not afford any luxaries.  she is a direct decendant of merry go boy, merry legs, wilson's allen, and many others.  how do i find a horse from her line to purchase?

Comments: Hi there mam.  I really love your site; alot of  good info and education there.  I come back to your site alot for references. I would love to ad your site to mine as a reference link.  I have just purchased a number of ss and tn walkers over the last year.  I have shown 3 of them..one of them  has  my heart.. one  I'm going to keep. She is from the Ebony Masterpiece/Mack K line  looks  like your Bummin around  only smaller and might be more compact.   I have  a direct Pusher son  who is the biggest pet that  I own..lol  I also have a wc trail pleasure double registered blue papered ss, Hawks Designed Prince...who is  very flashy and looks  like your  Powder tn walker.   Since  July of  2002, I have  learned how to ride and show the tn walker... oh how fun.   I have also  taken lessons twice a week and am teaching my 16 y/o TNn walker mare dressage... Its fun and a real challenge...she  seems  to like the TN walker bit a lot more than the snaffle.   Yes,  I would like to  be a pioneer of  getting more people  doing dressage with their tn walkers...I would like to see more dressage tests included in shows.   I went to the Celebration for the first time and  inhaled   big lick...and all kinds of tn walkers  for  12 days...wow...   I even sat on the bleachers in a rain storm  watching these horses work and show.   They are absolutely gorgeous.. just  don't  like the soring stuff that  continues to go on.  When I came back to CA, I got myself  a  2 year old Dumas colt who has been on pads for about   8 months... and actually am learning to ride a big lick...  wow  what  a thrill.    I love the gentleness, and personalities of the  tn walker...  and  once my kids  are all grown up.. want to start my own farm or boarding facility.   I'm due to retire next may from the military and  plan on going back to pcola, fl then.  I would love to continue to working and  finding my place in the tn walker industry.   If there is anything you can advise me  or  share.. please respond to my email addy above.   I see you have a new trainer on your site....Trainers come and go huh?   But  I really love your site.. Holly

Comments: More people know of my sister, Kim Pringle (Arden, Ontario, Canada), than of myself, but I have to say.... wow what a site.
When my sister speaks of Walkers from days gone past, her eyes almost glaze over.  I could listen to her forever, (or until she gets a sore throat).  Finally, she said to me, if you want to know the history, look it up, it is all at your fingertips.  She was right, not only is it informative, it is comprehensive (which I was totally impressed by).
I am glad that your site is out there, because if I can access it (computer illiterate) than so can anyone else bitten by the bug, or any new people to the breed.

I have enjoyed your website very much, especially the information about the old show & breeding horses. You might remember talking to me about JOE WEBB at my book table at the WISER FARM sale in SHELBYVILLE. If you ever need information on any horse, I would be glad to help you as I have most all books & magazines that have been published since 1936. Feel free to call on me at any time. It is my favorite! I check it out at least once a day, often twice or sometimes more. I work at Cheveaux training stables in Oregon for a Mz. Diane Gueck. Comments: Hi,

I just want to say how much I enjoyed your excellent web-site! I am thrilled to know you are located in Texas. I to live in Texas, near lake Lewisville (35 minutes north west of Dallas). I am just beginning my search & horse education to determine what breed I want to focus on for future purchase. I have always LOVED the Tennesse Walker, and always admired the beauty and intelligence of "Champion" and "Trigger, Jr.".

I know Tennessee Walkers are very versatile, but can they be taught how to dressage (spelling?) or Hunter Jump (small jumps-I am too old). I know that these question might sound stupid, but I'd appreciate your expert opinion. It wouldn't be the end of the world if they are not known for participating in these events, I simply have not been exposed to any other showing events.

I am very impressed with the walker's reputation of being intelligent, and very gentle and easy on the back. I am in my late 30's, and I want a gentle, and smart horse that is psychologically more balanced, yet is still fun to ride and maybe show.

Thanks for your time, and I love your web-site!!!

Lincoln Adios, out of miss Lincoln and sired by meadow Adios, Grand sire Hurricaine. Its a shame really as she's a spirited 15 yr old but a big pet and ride . She had one foal sadly reg p/b cleveland bay. I'm afraid few share my love of Standardbreds here in UK unless racing. Adore your pitch black for sale will come back for her when win lotto. Keep up good work

Comments: I have visited your web site... it's great! I am 60 years old and I like horses.  At home, there are now two and I had more before during the last 20 years. Though I like to take care of them and to see them running on the land, I would like also to ride. So, I would like to have a very quiet gelded male over 8 years, well trained only for walk (I don't want to jump). I have also two grandchildren, aged 1 & 3 years, the second like horses as I do. However, I think it isn't possible (due to the farness) to have one of your horses. The travel would involve some suffering for the horse and maybe one high cost. Do you think so? Thanks in advance! And friendly greetings from Spain!!

Comments: I just discovered your website and I love it!!!  I am a great fan of TWH and own two stallions one is an old timey 16-2 liver chestnut named King Pin.  King is what I consider to be the epitome of the TWH.  He is a versatility ch. and has numerous endurance wins.  King has Merry Go Boy, Last Chance, Midnight Mack K, and Glory's Sensation, back 3 gen.  I absolutely love this horse and am glad to see some of these horses lived into their 30's, King is 24.  I also have a stallion named Missouri Gold.  Mo is out of Coin's Perry Mason. Prides Gold Coin and The Exhibitionist.  Mo has won several local lite shod western Ch. and won lite shod western 3 gait at the Spokane 2002 celebration.  Mo is five.  Please forgive me for my enthusiasm, I just absolutely love these horses, looking at the old pics and stories.  Also, you have some wonderful horses at your ranch.  My wife (Dr. Charmian Wright, DVM) and I are now doing embryo transfer and having good success with super-ovulation, we will keep you in mind.

Comments: I have shown a Tennessee Walker in the past. A Red mare She was a Go Boy horse I loved her. We had to put her down due to an icy fall and a broken leg. We have a 3 year old Midnight Sun horse we are training now. We will only us him for pleasure. I showed in the OHIO Celebration in 77-79. I have been to the Celebration once would love to go back soon.

Comments: Researching Marion Kittrell, whose old mansion still stands and in which I live and came across the Tom Hal story.  This home reported to have been built by Kittrell circa 1857 once stood on a plantation of about 1000 acres but has since been split up.  It had a huge barn measuring 96 feet deep and about 60 feet wide with numbered stalls and an outside scales room and granary, all now gone in my lifetime.  It is located 3 miles from Lebanon, Tennessee at 3215 Coles Ferry Pike. Kittrell was a builder of steam boats and the  house had a "steamboat gothic" design.  Unfortunately I had to remove the gingerbread scroll on the porches and go to aluminum columns, but the original house still stand.  Glad to read about Kittrell's Tom Hal.

Comments: I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the Tennesse Walker named Sundusts Memories. This horse is a 27 year old, 15hh black mare. She was shown when she was younger and I just am very curious to know anything about her show records or bloodlines. So if anyone knows anything, please let me know. Thank you!
