I own a great-great granddaughter of the 1947 1948 World Grand Champion "Merry Go Boy". I purchased her as a rescue and after seeing the photos of Merry Go Boy, I can see in her, (past the loose skin, jutting bones, respiratory infection and scruffy coat) a horse with a beautiful carriage and proud lineage. I believe that I "owe" it to Merry Go Boy to bring her back to the shape that God intended she should be and to insure that she remains in this safe environment, never to be a rescue again.

Comments: Thank you for your most incredible and generous informative site. I purchased 3 TWH last November and I have never even ridden a horse. I am no spring chicken as a lady in my mid years, but my lifelong love for horses finally was affordable, but now I need to learn how to ride, and I am experiencing so much new stuff. I am loving everything I learn, but there are no horse trainers in our area, so I am learning all off the internet , books, and from 2 young girls that are riding my horses once every 3 weeks, which I know is not enough, but these TWH's are incredibly patient with us. They are herd bound though, so we need to split our large 20 acre pasture( now in 2 sections) in to smaller pastures and a few paddocks and perhaps a round pen, so as to work one on one with the horses and then maybe the herd bound thing will not be as bad, although I have heard they still are always somewhat bound...anyhow, enough chattering about me...I just wanted to tell you, you are the most incredible lady I have ever met, and I have not even met you yet, but I love your website and I am grateful for it. I have already learned so much about my 3 horses pedigrees and traced them back to greats like Midnight Sun, Go Boy's Shadow, Ebony Masterpiece, Merry Go Boy, Pride of Midnight, Prides Genius, Sun's Delight D, Pride of Stanley, Ebonys Senator, the Legend, Wilson Allen, Merry Legs F-4,Roan Allen F-38, Allen F-1, Delights Joanna, Pearle, Merry Maker, Hunters Allen F-10, Dandy Jim II, Royal Denmark, Giovanni, Wiser's Dimples,....so am very excited that my 3 horses that I thought were just backyard lovies, have wonderful pedigrees.........and now I am thinking how wonderful it would be to learn as much as I can, so I can perhaps breed them and carry on a " famous horse"( I love to dream)...but I am so excited that my beautiful gals( all 3 are mares) are healthy, happy and love me....and who knows, maybe one day I will be able to have someone handle them in a show. anyhow, must go  check on my gals and 'tuck them in'....my friends say they are my 'bubble horses'...I don't care...I love to spoil them.
Blessings from Canada

She died this year at the age of 12 or 13.  She was the best horse I have ever had and the sweetest, most gentlest Arabian you ever meet. Well I have Enjoyed see and reading all of your horse ads. I wish I could get a Tennessee Walker. Well maybe just some day I will. Good luck and i hope that one time you may end up showing somewhere here in Arizona. Bye.

Comments: I love this site i go to it almost every day. I ride a horse and he is almost like my own. He is a Thoroughbred gelding and he's very bumpy when he trots so we thought to look for a walking horse because of my trainers back. So we went to a lot of websites and i found this one ever since, its been the only one i go to. I want to visit Texas, and maybe when I do i'll come and see your beautiful horses. I liked the virtual tour that was really cool. your barn is big and the property looks well kept. My dad is a truck driver and he has been to every state except for Hawaii and Alaska. We live in North Carolina. Well I'll go now.

Comments: I love your web site its very informative. I to someday would like to have a Tennesse Walker they are the best. Right now I live in Illinois and I don't have to many places to keep a horse except for boarding, and I am not to fond of that I rather keep the horse with me. For right now I just keep reading and gaining more info on them. Do you have any great advice to a first time buyer I keep reading as much as possible but advice from a long time owner of Tennesse Walkers would be very helpful also. If possible do you know of any books or other info on Tennesse Walkers that would be helpful for me.  Greatly appreciated.

I bookmarked your site so I can pull it up when my quarter horse friends come over so that I can show them! Love your site and will return often to see what's new!

Comments: I see why the average visit to your web site is 317 minutes--I still have much left to read.  All that's missing is a front porch, old cane rockers and the grand old gents sitting in them telling tales and bickering about the facts as they each remember them:)

I have three Walkers, one of which I've owned 14 years and is a 17 year old dark chestnut great-grandson of Midnight Sun on his top side.  I'm proud to say Bonafide Genius (Duke) was born on the Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, TN.  His backyard/trail riding life with me has been colorful to say the least:)

I read your historical writings over and over.  Thank you SO MUCH for an accurate and entertaining timeline of the breed.  You have done a remarkable and wonderful job of preserving the history of this noble breed!

I am always surprised at the Walking Horse folks that don't know about Maggie Marshall, The Hambletonian, the Narragansett Pacers, or Canadian Pacers.  If one commits to owning any breed, one should honor it by the study of same.

Your time and efforts are certainly appreciated by this backyard owner of three!
Sincerely,
Judy Moore

Comments: I saw you site and I really like it.  I have a nearly 28 year old walker.  I don't think that you can find a horse with such a sweet and willing disposition other than in the Tennessee Walking Horses.  I was born and raised here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Gautier, Ms.  I grew up riding English and learned to ride dressage.  As a child I would go to my grandmothers home and we would go to visit a friend of hers who raised and showed walkers.  I always got to ride.  It was then that I decided that a Tennessee Walker would eventually be a horse that I would have.

Hello Mary
Thanks for your help in obtaining the house plans ,we sent him a email this morning. We think your web site is the best we have ever found on the net. It has more information than any other, we come back to it every few days to find out more. We only have one Tennessee Walker but have several racking horses. Our Walkers name is "Trumps Triple Delight". We found out more about her on your web site than we thought possible.
We have spread the word about your site to all our friends that deal with horses. I can't express how well we like your site, yours should be the model for all other sites.
Thank You Again

Comments: I like many of your color illustrations for coat colors and markings on the site. However there are a few mistakes. On this page: www.walkerswest.com/coat.htm there is a mistake with #15. It states that: Buckskin X Buckskin - Bay, Buckskin, Perlino. Those are true, but you can also get a sorrel, a palomino, a cremello, a Black, a Smokey Black (black horse with one copy of creme gene), or a Smokey Creme (Genetically black horse with two copies of creme gene- appears a light pumpkin-pink color.) Because unless the horses are genetic tested, you dont know if both of the buckskins will throw the gene that restricts the color to the points (so a foal could be black based),...also you cannot be sure (unless again they are tested) that both with throw at least one black gene (so you could get sorrel based horses.)
I don't mean to pick,..I just figured if there was mistake on my site i would want to know. These things have been proven through extensive studies of genetics. You can find great charts for color on www.doubledilute.com
Also, on your site of color descriptions and pictures to show the colors (www.walkerswest.com/colors3.htm) your pictures of cremello and perlino seem to have fairly dark skin on the nose. All double dilutes like cremellos, perlinos, and smokey cremes cannot have dark skin, it is instead pinkish or light pumpkiny colored. This may be a trick of the light and the horses in the pictures may indeed be the colors by which they are described.
I hope that I did not anger the owners of this site, I just wanted to inform you of these things. Thank you very much for listening!
