GEN'S BLACK MAVERICK and Bill Callaway have won the 2017 World Grand Championship for owners Keith and Lorraine Rosbury of Maple Crest Farm, Bell Buckle, TN.  Bred by Ed Smith, Pigeon Forge, TN, Gen's Black Maverick was sired by Gen's Black Gin, the 2006 15.2 & UNDER OWNER AMATEUR STALLIONS World Champion, out of Cash's For Roses, a daughter of Coin's Hard Cash, the 1987 World Grand Champion. Cash's For Roses was a World Champion 2 year old mare in 1997 with Harrell Jones, making Gen's Black Maverick the only World Grand Champion out of a World Champion dam!

Talk about a loaded pedigree!  It hosts some of the most famous World Grand Champions of all time:  Go Boy's Shadow, Sun's Delight D., Ebony Masterpiece and Coin's Hard Cash, backed up by some of the most influential of the World Champions: Prides Generator, Prides Gold Coin, Ultra Copy, Prides Ultra Threat, Pride of Midnight HF, and Threat's Black Power. Now THAT'S a gene pool to breed to.

Initially owned by Joseph L. Barnes of Pigeon Forge, TN, Maverick was sold to James S. Hixon &/or Jon M. Hall, Clarkesville GA on May 5, 2010. He was sold to Lorraine Rosbury of Bell Buckle, Tn on June 13, 2011 and became the property of Maple Crest Farm on Aug. 17, 2012. “He’s a very talented horse,” said Lorraine Rosbury last month. “He just needed to get with the right trainer.” Since then, she said, the horse has just gotten better as the years have progressed. She called Maverick “the most talented horse we’ve ever owned.”

Maverick arrived at this year's Celebration with an impressive show history behind him. He started by winning the 3 YEAR OLD STALLIONS RIDERS CUP at the WALKING FOR CANCER Show in SHELBYVILLE, TN on 04/30/11 and the same class at the LIONS CLUB HORSE SHOW in MANCHESTER, TN on 05/07/11 and again at the MOORE COUNTY HORSEMAN'S SHOW in LYNCHBURG,TN on 07/16/11.
 

As a four year old, he won the FOUR YEAR OLD WALKING STALLIONS at the MISSISSIPPI CHARITY Show in JACKSON, MS and the FOUR YEAR OLD WALKING HORSE OPEN at the LAUREL CHARITY HORSE SHOW in LAUREL, MS and took RESERVE FOUR YEAR OLD WALKING STALLIONS at the NATIONAL TRAINERS SHOW in WHITE PINE, TN., and at the WALKING FOR THE ANGELS Show in SHELBYVILLE, TN.

The following year he won the CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASS at the LAWRENCEBURG LIONS CLUBShow in LAWRENCEBURG, TN and took Reserve in the CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASS in the TUNICA FALL CLASSIC at TUNICA, MS.

2014 was a great year for Maverick, seeing him win the CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASS at the MISSISSIPPI CHARITY Show in JACKSON, MS, the MONEY TREE CLASSIC Show in SHELBYVILLE, TN. This was also the year of his first Celebration wins where he took the AGED WALKING STALLIONS Class and Reserve in the World Grand Championship Class. Since then, his blues have included: the CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASS at the COLUMBIA SPRING JUBILEE Show, the WOODBURY LIONS CLUB Show and the ALABAMA JUBILEE CHARITY Show and the AGED WALKING STALLIONS SPECIALTY Class at the 2015 Celebration. 2016 saw him win the CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE CLASS at the MONEY TREE CLASSIC and the MISSISSIPPI CHARITY HORSE SHOW, and the AGED WALKING STALLIONS, OVER 15.2 Class at the SPRING FUN SHOW in SHELBYVILLE.

In 2017, he won the AGED WALKING HORSE CHAMPIONSHIP STAKE at the SPRING FUN SHOW at Shelbyville and returned to win the roses at the 2017 World Grand Championship. This horse LOVES the blue ribbons!!
